Ellen's Story

Life Married once, divorced (29 years), 2 sons, 5 grandchildren, worked for Mt. Morris Schools 30 years, served with Army Reserve 20 years, 1 cat (dog just went to doggie heaven a few weeks ago), love to travel to north woods, hike, camp, read, church. Working on a book and a cookbook with family and friends recipes and short notes about my life experiences and am sure it will be a best seller (with my family). Just received word from Publish American that they want to publish my book. Should be on bookshelves around November 2007. Am now working on a murder mystery. Also working part-time at local funeral home in their office and babysit 2 days a week, do crafts (aprons, pot holders, hot pads, seasonings for dips and food and coffee) and sell at local craft shows in an around Genesee County. College 35 hours with Mott and over 400 hours of correspondance classes with military. Just completed a nutrition class with Mott College and a class in World Cultures. Hope to return to college in the fall and maybe take a cooking class, painting and gardening. Am now enrolled in a Biology Class and Public Speaking. Also on committee at church I just joined. First book "My Teakettle Whistled" was published by Pubilsh America in May and is available at their website along with Amazon, Barnes and Nobles and Borders. 2nd will be submitted end of October 2007. Workplace Started work at the Credit Bureau in 1964 until 1973 when I found a secretarial job with Mt. Morris Schools. I...Expand for more
worked at the elementary school level for 4 years then assisted in the setting up of the first adult education program for Mt. Morris in 1977, the same year of my divorce. I worked as a coordinator for enrichment classes (you know...like underwater basketweaving and exercise classes), I instructed classes in typing, shorthand, resume writing, and computer program classes (how to work the darn things), also was in charge of hiring instructors for classes like dog obedience, photography, exercise, yoga, cooking...you name it and I would find the space and time and advertise it. Also was the editor for the school/community newspaper. I joined the military reserve in 1979 (I was 34 so they called me "grandma"). I was a supervisor for 6 years then transferred to a unit in Lansing where I became an instructor for computer skills, land navigation, map reading, weapons maintenance, digging fox holes, ..... what a trip that was! Now I am retired but still do some part-time work for the school with data entry and was just asked if I would help get community enrichment classes back on the road again. I now work 2 days a week for the local funeral home in their office and just finished a book that is to be published by Publish America around November 2007. Am also working on a murder mystery that is filled with several twists and turns. Military That interesting stuff is in my life bio. My book has some (3 or 4) short stories about some of my experiences. Very funny I am told.
