Ellen's Story

This year I celebrated by 30th year with Rutgers University and will celebrate my 27th anniversary married to the love of my life and my inspiration and soul mate. My hero's are my father-in-law and my husband. My father-in-law because he saved me from a burning building when I was a child and my husband because he he is always there for me no matter what. I lived in South Brunswick until about 12 years ago and then moved to North Brunswick. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Joseph Morris, because he was someone I miss very much as a friend. My duaghter is one year away from graduating college as a Theatre major and she makes me very proud every day to be her mother. She is so talented so watch for her name. I learned to relax and take it easy and not kill myself over the little details. To go with the flow. If I won $100 million, I'd give 200,000 of it to my mother-in-law, then spend the rest on farm land, a horse and my daughters college and donating to animal shelters and setup scholarships for students going to college. one should have the opportunity to develop and college is the best place for that. I am lucky that I work for one of the best. To be happy I would be doing just what I am doing now. I am currently the Administrative Assistant to the Director for Graduate Human Resources at the School of Management and Labor Relations at Rutgers University. My best friend would tell you I'm nice but not make me mad, people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as honest and forward. Don't ask my opinion unless you are ready for the most direct answer. I have two Civilian Military Awards. The first is the Commander's Award for Public Service and the other is the Outstanding Civilian Service Medal. I am only 1 of a few that holds both awards. In 10 years, I hope to be moving out of NJ. I'm going to get there by moving to North Carolina. My first job was at Shoprite of Kingston, NJ, where I got paid 7.00 to be a cashier. What I remember most about it is long hours and working holidays and those nasty snow storms. Overall it has been a amazing adventure and one I hope will go on for many years to come.
