Ellen's Story
Are we all really hitting 40??? Wow! I am a college professor in Seattle, WA. I teach speech communication. That UNLV education did fine by me :-).
After high school and some pretty tumultuous years with my parents (who divorced, then my dad died), I went back to college in my late 20s. I was fortunate enough to "accidentally" get hired to teach at Community College of Southern Nevada, based on my former career in health care. als to teach permanently and the rest is history. Well, not at CCSN. I had to leave Las Vegas in order to teach--most schools don't hire their own!
I did a short, four-year stint in the Deep South for my first teaching gig and now have tenure at Highline Community College.
I have been married for 13 years and have two children, Brenna (almost 6) and Scott (just turned 1). Other than this horrible economy, which removed my husband's job in November 2008, I'd say we're doing fine!
