Ellen's Story
I can't believe i has been 50 years. I have had a wonderful life, very much fun and fulfillment teaching mathematics in high school for 16 years and then working in Houston ISD's Department of Instructional Technology for 14 more. I also had the great experience of teaching Technical Math for San Jacinto College, as well as Technology for Teachers for UHCL.
Since I retired in 1999, I have been working with several mission groups teaching English as Foreign Language, developing curriculum for that and training others to do it. I know it seems odd that a math teacher would be teaching English, but my dual certification is math and English.
In my 20's, I was blessed to be able to travel abroad quite a bit and loved it. My first husband and I also traveled some here. He was a Minister of Music and Education in several...Expand for more
Baptist churches. I became very involved in church music, and am still involved in it. I am pianist at First Baptist Church Manvel and also sing and play with a small music group.
My second husband, JD, and I have also had opportunities to travel since we are both retired and free to do that. I have had many opportunities to travel many places in the world to help with teaching English. JD helped start a Baseball English program in Croatia about 11 years ago and we have been there many times. We have family there that are as dear to us as our own out in California.
Speaking of family in California... We have 3 children (1 daughter and 2 sons), 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. We see them as often as we can. I have posted some pictures.
JD and I are really looking forward to the reunion. See you then.
