Ellen's Story
Life
Hey!!! What's up fellow graduates of JHS! I just got an email about a month ago, reminding me it's time for the 20th reunion - GAWD, are we really that old?!?! Thought I should update my profile here, in case anyone's tryin' to find me - not that I'm that hard to find...I moved a whole 16 miles away! I'm a single mommy of a 6 y/o boy and a 14 y/o girl. Almost got married a couple of times, but am quite thankful I dodged the bullet both times, cuz now I'm dating the sweetest guy on the face of the Earth! The kids and I live in our cute little house in Smurf Village in New Berlin. (We don't have a blue roof anymore though, thanks to the March 12th tornado last year, and American Family Insurance!) I work in Springfield as the Director of the Law Enforcement Training Advisory Commission, and have worked there for the past 16 years. Don't see many of my old friends very often, but still keep in touch via email with a few. Life is entertaining, to say the least. Drop me a note to say Hi!!
School
I hated high school!!! But now that I'm a bit older and more confident, I wish I could go back, knowing what I do now. I try to help my daughter see things in perspective, now that she's growing up a bit, but of course, I'm just a dumb ol' mom to her (even IF she thinks I'm...Expand for more
the coolest Mom of all of her friends)....she'll learn one of these days! ;0)
Mr. Kerr and Mr. Woods were my favorite teachers. And of course, Mrs. Holloway, rest her soul.
Wish I'd appreciated ALL THAT FREE TIME I had back then too! Oh to be young and cute and irresponsible again!!
College
I went to college at IC for all of a semester and a half. Spent all my time getting drunk and getting high and wanted to get out before I made a habit of it. Oddly enough, I was getting straight A's when I dropped out, except for some stupid Library Science class I always skipped (I WORKED at the PUBLIC LIBRARY for cryin' out loud - I didn't wanna hang out at the library while I was AT school too!!!!)
Always figured I'd go back, but it hasn't happened yet. Life got in the way. If I had it to do over, I'd have prolly stayed in school. But because I DID leave school, I'm settled, responsible, ethical, grounded, and a hard worker. Who's to say I'd be the same if I'd have continued on the path I was on back then. Oh, and I'm a mom to a 14 year old daughter and 6 year old son at the moment...that wouldn't be the case if I'd stayed in school. (And they're the most awsome kids you'd ever wanna meet!) Things happen for a reason, so that must mean I'm exactly where I was meant to be!
