Ellen's Story
The picture is of me (the 'tall'one in the middle, LOL) my sister Rachel, and our Auntie Minnie at Millenium Park last spring. I am currently teaching at Governors State University, while completing my doctorate in Instructional Leadership.
I always wanted to be a librarian when I grew up. My family never knew about my aspirations. As it turns out, I have read and known thousands of books and authors since I have taught and provided staff develpment in Early Literacy Development and Reading using a literature-based approach.
Above all, I love to read, read, read, and then swim swim, swim, and sun, sun, sun. I love the warmer, tropical climes in the winter. I also love a good conversation that gives the brain an analytical workout. Finally, I love doing the Sunday Crossword Puzzle in the Chicago Trib.
What's the wildest thing you ever did in school?

ded for three days. It was humiliating. Actually, I was a very quiet, shy 'mouse in the corner' in most of my K-12 schooling, so this was way out of character at the time...
I have had many heroes as a public school educator. These are the 'everyday' heroes and mentors who in one way or another have inspired me to attain cognitve achievements beyond my wildest dreams: Rosie Silver, Mrs. Clements, Mr. Kitridge, Mr. Pirok, Mrs. Bloom, Mrs. Friedman, Buff Rosen, Charlene Gonzalez, David Rosen, Mrs. Kammer, Susie Kammer, Marilyn Tannenbaum, Dr. Roberta Bear, Dr. Bill Katz, Dr. Addison Woodward, Dr. Kenneth Silber, Judith Carter, Dr. JoAhn Brown, Dr. Diane McClellan, Dr. Susan Kinsey, Susan Hodes, Rachel Silver Solger, Tina Radomsky...I have indeed been blessed!
