Ellen's Story
After high school, I went to UC Santa Cruz and did a double major in Mathematics and Women's Studies. Thought I would become a math teacher since I had been teaching college math for several years. But instead I discovered my passion for computer engineering, so I got a second BS and started working in the software development industry, which I have been doing for the past 25 years or so. IS (masters in Library Science) to refocus my job prospects. Nowaday I work as a VP of Professional Services for a search engine company in Santa Fe, NM. I have lived here for the past 6 years, and it is a lot less crowded than CA although I do miss northern CA. I am also wrapping up a Ph.D. in Depth Psychology for the fun of it :-). As for being married and kids and all that, I came out when I was 18, and have been the equivalent of married twice, but no kids. As you can imagine, I am just as nerdy now as I was in high school!
