Ellen's Story

Who are you really, Ellen? - is the question; Ellen a die-hard optimist and a survivor. I miss Long Island terribly... New England too. I miss my family and friends and all the beauty there in all its seasons. Don't miss the materialism, though. I'm a cautious giver and I am tired of takers and users... I am sad for them. They have missed what life is about and what the time alotted to them is for. I am sadder still for their children who are usually super-brats and have no clue what love really is, or depressed pessimists who have too little self esteem to carry them through. I remain a faithful dinosaur and refuse to turn in my love of the simple things in life for the rat-race and money-driven "elitists" who are always trying to impress everyone. I am sure that the title you tag on at the end of your signature, the size of your house(and bank book), the prestige level of your car and other "toys" will not do you any good when it's all said and done. All that (and the comprehensive list is endless) will not matter after you've drawn your last breath. 'Love of money is th...Expand for more
e root of all evil' -so scripture says. We are all witnessing the truth of it in this present day, world wide, financial crisis. I've enjoyed the luxury of grand resorts... rubbed elbows with the very rich... attended too many black-tie affairs with ridiculous per-plate price tags where the main topics of conversation was the size of the custom-made shoe closets(to hold hundreds of pairs with bags to match!)or which man spent the most on a bottle of exquisite champagne and where they drank it. So empty; their conversations and their hearts. Too sad. I remember my Dad used to say; 'pride go-eth before the fall.' I am thankful for my parents who loved me much and taught me right from wrong and to love people and use things... not the reverse. I am grateful that they instilled deep within me to seek after the true 'finer things' in life. I hope all who read this find them too. I am eloves2write at yahoo if you would like to write. I sincerely wish all here the very best and I pray we all learn to live life abundantly. I wish you joy. Blessings, my dear school mates! -Ellen
