Elsie's Story

I was kind of quiet in school - but not around friends. I was very short......which I hated! An average student just trying to fit in. Worked as Clerk Typist fresh out of high school, three years later I married and had 1 son, Billy. Began working at Prudential Ins Co in 1968 and continued there for 30 years, until they closed. Divorced in 1986. Continued my education by attending Academy of Computerized Accounting in Berlin, NJ and graduated in 1999. Worked as a Payroll Technician at Pay Pro's in Millville about 5 years, took some college courses, and then became the bookkeeper and payroll tech for Precious Hearts Daycare I retired in 2010, sold my home in 2011, and moved in with my mother, to help her out and take care of her. I love party planning, and am a true nature and animal lover, I have several cats. I love to check out Memory Lane and look at the old pictures of the "Millville I rembered as a kid. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Carol Westcott, because she was my dear childhood friend.. If I won $100 million, I'd give 10% of it to my church, then spend the rest on my mother, my son and my siblings. My current age is 66. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be old fashioned and wearing "old lady" ...Expand for more
dresses. I was so completely Wrong!!. My best friend would tell you I'm very friendly and outgoing, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as quiet. I dress the same as 10 or 20 years ago.......However nothing like I dressed 50 yrs ago. The style was dresses, skirts, high heels, everything matched...clothes, shoes, hats, etc... Hats were very "in" back then and all girls wanted to dress and look like girls....today it's jeans, sweaters, sneaks. I share my home with my mother, which I find enjoyable, and we are company for each other. My first job was at Fowser Fast Freight Trucking Co, where I got paid approx $75.00 to $100.00 weekly. What I remember most about it is How nice the truck drivers were to me. . I remember as a child, my best friend and childhood boyfriend was Dennis Belzer. (His dad and mother owned Belzers Bakery) We would play in the back of the store and run in and help ourselves to fresh baked cookies all the time. They were wonderful people and Mr Belzer used to take us to the river fishing in he bakery truck. Sadly, Dennis died several years ago, but I will always remember him and his family. I hope my friends will remember me as a helpful, funny and nice, (though quiet) person. I always wanted to be a actress when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a crazy idea. As it turns out, they were right!.
