Emerie's Story
August 13, 1008:
I spent the last 20+ years living in East & Central Texas (Austin area most recently) and just this summer (2008) moved to the Atlanta, GA area. I am a Territory Manager for Emerson Process Management responsible for the Southeast Territory (runs from Louisiana East to Fla, then North to NJ). I work from home and travel to 7 SE offices on occasion. Most of the time I am on the phone & email from my home office.
My career was mostly focussed on technology for many years (from the 70's into the 90's) and I enjoyed being involved in designing & building complex control systems for automating various processes (mostly related to oil & gas applications). I ended up in management roles and have drifted away from a clear understanding of how all that technology works. My job is now people oriented, something I enjoy tremendously. I spend most of my time now building and nurturing relationships with a very large sales team and am both a slave driver and a cheerleader to them.
I am currently married and have 6 kids (3 out of the nest and 3 still at home). We are ve...Expand for more
ry involved in our church and like do to a lot of things together as a family. The 3 kids at home now are all boys so we often do "guy stuff" together to give my wife some alone time which she enjoys.
I have developed a woodworking hobby that I enjoy very much when I am not too busy for it. I also play guitar and have started trying my hand at building acoustic guitars (challenging but fun & rewarding).
I occasionally switch to the 60's & 70's stations on my satellite radio to reminisce a bit. The other day I heard the song by the 5th Dimension called ¿Age of Aquarius¿ and it reminded me that it was our graduating class song in 1969. Seems like an eternity ago. However, the Airline football games are etched into my mind forever. Whenever I go to one of my kids¿ HS ball games I recall with fondness how much fun it was to cheer on a great team at Airline. Those were definitely fun days. Now it¿s been almost 40 years ago (can that really be true???). I hope to hear about the class of ¿69 having a 40-year reunion in 2009. That would be tremendous fun!
