Emily's Story

Life 2006: Living and going to school in Japan was an experience I thought I never would have an opportunity to repeat. However, for the last 3 years I have been living and working in Nice France. My youngest daughter and I came in in 2003 and have had an amazing up and down roller coaster ride. She has since graduated high school here and is at my alma mater in California. On December 2nd, I head back to Seattle for another adventure. I would love to hear from my classmates from Class of 67!! and I'll write back 2008: It's been a year now since returning to Seattle and am adjusted to living back in the USA. There has since been a mini reunion with Stan Desaki and Anna Teruya ('67) where we spent time retelling stories, laughing at the guys funny adventures in Japan, remembering sorority initiations, revealing high school crushes, eating fresh oysters, visiting beautiful Deception Pass, bar-b-que a Stan's home...it was a weekend none of us will forget. This past year my oldest daughter was married and my youngest is now a junior at college studying design. I'm so proud of both of them as they have become bright, beautiful young women and the love of my life. I will be vacationing in Hawaii in Mar '08 and hope that there is a chance to reconnect with old classmates there. Wishing you all a full & wonderful life. Bisou, Emily (Reed)..... 2012: Life is really a journey. Still in Seattle, have one grandson with another (?) on it's way and of course am very proud of both daughters. I have since left my job at Nordstrom but still looking for what to do until I retire...or do I take early retirement? I guess we are all now at the crossroads where we are looking back at our careers but still deciding what to do for the next phase of our lifes.-Stan, Anna and I still meet in August here in Seattle for our annual fish bake and reunion. e added Francis Okano and his wife and maybe Ken Swenson will join us too! Ken recently called me from Japan where he works in a civil service job. It was wonderful to reconnect from HS even though those were such emotional years for me. You are all welcome to join us...it would be great to see you again! Seattle is beautiful at that time of year. All the best, Emily. 2018 It is now 6 years since my last note. I am still working but as a gardener for the Volunteer Park Conservatory which helps me meet my 10,000 steps a day!! I went back to school to get my AA in horticulture and have had NO regrets. Not sure when I will retire although all my friends from Yamato seem to have taken that route and are having a great time, especially traveling. We had a mini reunion of sorts this past August here in Seattle. There was a Bar-B-Que at my home and surprising to have many Yamato alumni in attendence: Jim Billingsly (66), Bob Clifford (66), Terry Walters (66), Anny Teruya (67), Ken Swenson (67) and my brother Ray Reed (69). Following day Stan Desaki had us all over for a fish bake! It was a fun and a memorable time for all of us. Lots of laughter and good food! My 2 daughters are all grown and have aspiring careers of their own. My oldest daughter did have another child, a girl! My grandchildren are now 9 and 6 years old. My siblings are all healthy and living, one in Honolulu, Ohio and us 3 in Washington state. My oldest brother Jim takes care of my mother who is now 93 but in late stages of Alzheimers. She however is doing very well in that she can still walk, feed and cloth herself. But it still is a hideous disease! I send blessings to all who read this. I am no longer subscribing to this site but am on FB and Instagram. May you be blessed with health, love and happiness always!
