Eric's Story
I graduated from Tunstall High School in 1992. I would have stayed at Southall, but due to a prick Principal, I had to change my plans at the last minute.
Following graduation I enlisted in the USN and proudly gave Uncle Sam 4 years of my life. It was not a bad experience, but lets just say I am glad it is over. Following my military career I came back home to Danville, VA and went to DCC for a couple of years, then went on to Averett College to earn my Bachelors Degree.
I have been in the Volunteer EMS service since 1995, and love being able to help people in need. I completed my fire training a few years ago, so now I am a Medic/Firefighter with 3 different volunteer fire departments in my area (Axton VFD, Brosville VFD and Cascade VFD). Check out the BVFD website if you get some time: brosvillefire(dot)com
I kind of got sidetracked with my career during my senior year at college. I worked as a bouncer at a redneck bar during my last couple of years of college. The bar was called The Flying Dutchman, and it was at the Dutch Inn Hotel in Collinsville, VA. I liked the adrenaline rush, so ...Expand for more
then I dabbled in Law Enforcement for a while. I worked 6 months as a Deputy/Medic with the Martinsville Sheriffs Department, then I worked for a couple of years with the Danville Police Department (the biggest bunch of IDIOTs you could ever work with). If they ever needed to make a documentary of a JOKE police department, Danville PD would be the winner, hands down.
My big break came one beautiful October day when I got a call for a job I had interviewed for in Durham, NC. I was riding around on patrol in downtown Danville when I got the call. That was awesome. Within a few weeks I had traded in my blue uniform for a desk job at Duke Clinical Research Institute. I have been working in the Clinical Research Industry ever since and even formed my own consultant company in 2006: Clinical Research Concepts, Inc.
I am currently living on a farm in Cascade, VA with my wife Clover and two children: Ashley is 6 and Kaden is 18months. We are in the process of buying a second home in the Brosville area (Danville, VA) hopefully by June 2008. Feel free to keep in touch with me...ericbiomed(at)yahoo
