Eric's Story
Eric is a graduate of Kelloggsville High School, class of 1966. He is a veteran of the United States Coast Guard, Vietnam era. He has a Masterâs Degree in Social Work from Grand Valley State University, and undergraduate degrees in English and Psychology. He has worked in the Michigan Poets In The Schools Program, taught Creative Writing at Grand Rapids City School, and was the editor and founder of GVSUâs national literary magazine Amaranthus. His poetry, essays, fiction, reviews and social criticism have been widely published in literary magazines, newspapers and online. He is the author of more than forty collections of poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, translation and social criticism. His most recent books are Poets In Review and Zen Duende - Collaborative Poems (with Glenna Luschei). His collaborative poem, Lone Bones (from Zen Duende, published originally in Forge 9.2), has received a 2017 Pushcart Prize and will appear in the next Best of the Small Presses anthology. He is one of twenty American poets included in the international anthology The Second Genesis: An Anthology of Contemporary World Poetry (Anuraag Sharma, Ed.; Ajmer, India; 548 pages; 2014).
