Eric's Story

After high school I went to Humboldt State where I graduated in 1970. Since graduation I've worked at newspapers in California and Mississippi as a reporter and editor. I'm finished my career as opinion page editor of The Record in Stockton, CA where I worked from 1985 until 2013. For the hell of it, when the older daughter went off to college I went back to college for a master's degree. thing she reminds me of with regularity. To keep busy after retirement I got myself named to the San Joaquin County Civil Grand Jury. I'm now serving a second, and last, one-year term. Interesting, but very time consuming. I'm married. Jan and I met in college and have been together 45 years now. We have two adult daughters and a grandson. I enjoy history, classical music and backpacking, something I've done most every summer for decades with fellow RLHS graduate Tom Simmons and his boys.
