Eric's Story
Life
ItÂs been a long crooked road.
I did 8 years in the Air Force, worked my butt off, and saw a bunch of countries.
Now IÂm working on my college degrees. ItÂs not what I thought. I feel like IÂm missing something. Maybe thatÂs a product of all the college movies I watched growing up. Too much Animal House. Perhaps this group of kids doesnÂt do the things we did. TheyÂre still crazy, but we didnÂt have the internet so we were crazy outside.
IÂve got my Associates. IÂm hoping to have two Bachelors degrees in a year or two in Engineering. WeÂll see. ItÂs a long way away and this is getting old fast.
I look back and I see the faces of those I knew. I canÂt always remember names but I remember some of the things we did. People that made an impact on my life. I wonder where they are. I wonder who they are today.
Anyway, if you were one, IÂd love to talk to you.
Take care.

Workplace
Mostly military.
I'm not where I want to be in this area yet.
Military
From Alconbury, I went to Germany, Spain, Denmark, and Holland. I loved this base. I had an unbelievable view of golden wheat from my dorm window and a lot of good friends here. I learned a lot o...Expand for more
n this base about everything, but especially people (including myself). I think if I could go back in time, this would be one of the times I went to. I loved traveling to London and going to the local towns. The feeling of history in England and Europe wraps you like a warm blanket. That isn't to say I was never cold because English winters will chill you to the bone like nowhere else I've ever been. Sitting in an old pub in front of the fire though will warm you back up. I loved movie theaters in England most I'd say. New Years Eve in London is one of the most memorable things I've ever done.
From Pope, I went to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Italy, and the Azores (Portugal). I hated this base. There were some good people, but management sucked. This base eventually ended my military career. We spent a lot of time in Las Vegas, Louisiana, and Kentucky.
I only saw Northern Japan and Tokyo while I was at Misawa. This was a fantastic base. I wish IÂd gone here instead of Pope. I do miss Japan and IÂd go back again given the chance. I went to Alaska strangely enough, and that eventually led me to where I am now. Japan was a major transition point in my life and I couldn't have asked for a better place to go through it.
