Philip Ericson:

CLASS OF 1986

Philip's Story

I'm a take it one day at a time kind of person. I've always just gone with the flow and done my best to stay in the background and blend in. I have "grandiose" moments where I feel I am ready to take on the world and then I relax and let it go. My friends and family, I believe, find me frustrating because I am the classic underachiever. I have managed to live well below my potential but I am a good person and I have done some amazing things and been to extraordinary places. Some of my dreams I have lived and others still elude me. I currently live in San Jose, Ca. but I make frequent trips to SLO as I still consider it to be home. After high school I tried college for a few years and did quite well but got bored quickly and never finished. I pursued my interest in surfing and travel in my twenties and had some very tough times during that same period. I have met some amazing people and lost touch with many a good friend. . It broke my heart and divided my family which to this day remains at odds. Unfortunate but nothing I can do. Today, I am studying kung fu and the internal arts with a Shaolin monk in the almaden area of San Jose. It's a process I began 10 years ago. I am not very good but it's fun and I enjoy it. I hope everybody has had a good life. Even those whom I did not like or did not like me. By the way, I liked pretty much everybody, but we all remember high school and how it was with so many lines drawn in the sand. Little had changed at my 20 year reunion, with the exception of a few which was refreshing. For those of you that were my friends at one time or another, I miss you. For those few that were dear to me I will never forget you. If any of you feel that I was less than kind or a down right asshole, my sincerest apologies.
