Erin's Story
Life
I lived in Joplin up until July of 2004 when I moved to Kansas City, MO after my wedding. Currently I work for Mid-America Cardiology at Kansas University Medical Center where I am a study coordinator in the research department. My job is to coordinate clinical investigative studies involving pharmaceuticals and devices that are not yet FDA-approved. In the past I have worked at St. John's Medical Center in Joplin and Kansas City Cardiology Associates in KC performing nuclear stress testing and assisting the physicians in the office.
I just recently interviewed for several positions in Springfield, MO. My husband received a job transfer to Springfield and it was one that we couldn't turn down.
I graduated from MSSU in 2002 with a BSBA in general business and a BSBA in marketing. I was a music minor and I currently play piano and guitar and sing. I am in the process of completing my BSN and MS in public health with a concentration in healthcare administration. My goal in five years is to be a successful healthcare administrator or be in the process of completing my nurse practitioner license.
School
Would I do it all over again?
There are certainly people that I miss from high school, but there are also people that I don't ever think I would miss! I wouldn't go back and change a thing. College was definitely much better than high school. I had the opportunity to meet some of the coolest people and some of my lifelong friends!
College
I will never forget the night tha...Expand for more
t I got so drunk at a party and the toilet was being used so frequently that I had to spend all night ralphing in the bathtub with one of my best guy buds holding my hair back out of the way for me.
That was absoultely the worst night of my life. It was a wonder that I didn't end up in the ER during my college days. Since then, I have definitely gotten old. My idea now of a wild night out is something similar to Will Ferrell in Old School (night out at the Home Depot with the husband).
Getting older is certainly depressing.
Workplace
I worked at St. John's Medical Center in Joplin until 2004 when I moved to Kansas City and started working for Kansas City Cardiology Associates-a group of 15 physicians and a nurse practitioner. I did the nuclear stress testing there for their group and I saw patients in the office for the physicians and nurse practitioner.
I now work at Mid-America Cardiology at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. I work as a study coordinator and research medical assistant in their research department. They are a group of 30 physicians, 5 nurse practitioners and a staff of over 150 other employees. I currently coordinate clinical investigative pharmaceutical and device trials as mandated by the study sponsor and the FDA.
I am currently in the process of interviewing for jobs in Springfield. My husband just received a job transfer to the Springfield area. Our family is all in Joplin and Springfield so we would prefer to be closer to family anyway.
