Erma's Story
Life
Good Evening My Fellow Classmates: Even if I did not get to see two very important men/friends, from my years of studying to be the best bear, I could be at Germantown High School. I have been walking, dancing and humming (The bears are on the warrior path ---------. Yes, Mr. Whitehead, Mr. Hughes, and there was a very big basketball player that used to sit in front of me (named Stanley--were you there---Hi Cheryl Spricer---Sharon Lynn told me you were there with your husband--Congratulations-and Mr. Gary Jenkins why did you walk in and walk out again would love to hear from you. Memories can be surprising sometimes Mommies and Papa's Bear-but remember our goals are always obtainable if we study hard, work hard, save---and then party hard-Bye and God Bless You All.........
I always wanted to be a teacher when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a Wonderful idea. As it turns out, they were 100% correct.
My favorite way to relax is to get up and dance, dance and sit down again. As I am sitting down, I am not resting. I am enjoying watching others dancing, dancing and dancing. I have achieved everything and more that I EVER wanted out of Life. Not only did I achieve my first degree from Temple University and started teaching in the Philadelphia P...Expand for more
ublic School District at Shoemaker Jr. High School. I also taught at the Philadelphia School of Office (on Chestnut St.) Training. In 1980, My Nigerian Husband stated we had to go to his home--He had received a job offer. So began My Adventure Years, travelling between the U.S.A. to Europe to the Netherlands through Dakar Sengal, Ivory Coast, Ghana and finally back home again to Nigeria. I eventually became a Vice-Principal awaiting retirement, in Nigeria; but life threw me a curve ball and I had to return to my motherland the good U.S.A. Where I was always welcomed with the same words..Welcome Home!! My story is one of failures but I would always pick myself up dust myself off and start all over again. I know I will never be bored: because, I learned in English PRIDE GOTH BEFORE A FALL!! I am not on the reunion committee: but, I now beg all members of the class of 1966 to join me in remembering, when we were young, gifted, Jewish, Gentile and Black people getting along together and save GERMANTOWN HIGH SCHOOL, Our beautiful edifice on Germantown & High Streets. Kisses and Hugs to all the members of the Class of 1966. Do any of the members of the class of 1966 remember The Hall Monitor that sat right outside the Principal's Office--yes that was Erma...smile!
