LIFE Born in St Petersburg. Most of family were Florida pioneers . Dad killed in last weeks of WW II (Navy SEABEE on Saipan in Pacific). Grade 1 to 4 at Gulfport Elementary. 5 in Ohio 6-7 in GA & NC. Back to Disston JHS 52-53. Boca Ciega HS 1953-57. At BCHS tagecrew in 1956. In Ms Christine Baker's BCHS Choir & "Song of Norway" 56/57. Studied voice with Madam Helen Baker 1956-58. Pre-Engineering at St. Petersburg JC 1957-58. SPJC A Capella Choir with Dr Ridley & Baritone in UTOPIANS (Freshman Quartet). Active Civil Air Patrol Cadet Oct 1954 to 1958. Most spare time at Albert Whitted Airport doing CAP aviation stuff. Career Navy active service from 1958-1992. Appointed to US Naval Academy,Annapolis June 58. Sports at USNA soccer, sailing team and inter-mural football. Lead role in Musical Club Show 1959. Baritone in USNA Barbarshop Quartet. President of Glee Club (61/62). Sang on several National Television shows (Pat Boone, Burl Ives, Alfred Drake, Ed Sullivan & Miss America). Chief Engineer of the Yard Patrol (Power) Squadron 61/62. Qualified to command 65-ton YP Training ships. Awarded Gatch Prize for Applied Seamanship & Society of Navy Sponsors prize for Shiphandling. Participated in Cuban Blockade 1961. Awarded Navy Expedtionary Medal. BS in Naval Science & commissioned Line officer, ENS, USN June 1962. Designated Naval Aviator (Pilot,jet) 1964. Formation Flight Instructor 64-65. Attack pilot 1965-75 flying A-4 & A7E. Logged 600 carrier landings. Two Cold War deployments on USS AMERICA to Mediterranean 1966 &1967.
