Esau's Story
LIFE
High school was great (go Royals!), with great people. College was even better. I graduated from Santa Clara University (BSC) in '72, spent a year on active duty in the Naval Air Reserve (with 5 years of weekend Reserve duty at Moffett Field), while also returning to SCU for law school (JD, '76). I've enjoyed being a lawyer since then, while also serving on the Board of Trustees of the East Side Union High School District (1985-1990), and on the Board of Trustees of the Alum Rock Union School District (1990 - present).
While serving on the East Side Board of Trustees, it was my honor to make the motion to promote my high school teacher, Guy Klitgaard, to the position of Assistant Superintendent. Mr. Klitgaard was an outstanding teacher and served as an effective e...Expand for more
ducational leader at the District office level.
My wife is a Xerox Corp. Vice President, our son is a Bellarmine College Prep/ UC Santa Cruz grad and now middle school teacher in East San Jose, and our daughter is a Presentation High School/ Santa Clara University grad and also a budding teacher. Life is great!
WORK LIFE
Work is stimulating and always interesting. I was a deputy Public Defender for the 1st 6 yrs of my career, sometimes defending old high school classmates. I then worked for Charles Garry (Black Panthers lawyer; famous in his own right) for 6 yrs.
For the past 28 yrs, I have been in private practice operating my own law office. I'm still doing criminal defense work, which comes naturally from my East Side upbringing. Work is great, just like life.
