Esther's Story
Life
Hi fellow Panthers! I'm living in Northwestern NJ and am the president of Raare, Inc., a private consulting firm specializing in enterprise portals and application integration architecture. I've been married since '94 -- no kids, but two cats. Anyone else wondering how the hell we all became "thirtysomethings"?
Sending positive vibes and good wishes to all!
School
Hi everyone,
I attended Francis Scott Key School in Philadelphia PA from 1974-1981...I moved out in the middle of the school year and finished at Hart Elementary in Warminster, PA in '81. Always looking for anyone who was in MG/AT during the 70's!
I attended Log College JHS and played piano in the Jazz Band and other musical groups, and was one of the first members of the first computer club (complete with Trash 80's). At Tennent, I was involved in music, drama, NHS, Scholar's Bowl, Science Fiction club, SADD and a lot of other stuff in the relentless pursuit of college acceptance letters and scholarship money (I wish I had that energy now!). I was also a DJ at WRDV-FM senior year and played tapes from several Tennent and AB Wood bands. I think along the way I crossed the line from band geek to full fledged geek :)
College
I attended Millersville University 9/87 to 12/89 and the summer semester of 1991. I was a Communication Major and lived in Ga...Expand for more
ige and Gilbert Halls as well as LynneBrook apartments, and was an active member of the Newman Center, SFFC, and the Marimba Ensemble.
I transferred to Temple as a Radio, TV and Film major in 1990 and graduated in 1992 with a minor concentration in Commercial Art from Tyler Art School. I continued working at WRDV-FM off and on, plus had stints at Channel 55 and the Classical Arts Cable Network. I also did some brief technical work on the Chaim Bianco film "The Pope of Utah" (1993).
In the last couple of years I completed a leadership program at the Babson College School of Executive Education, and am sporadically pursuing a master's degree in Information Technology at NJIT.
Workplace
So much for a career in broadcasting...early on I figured out that working as a production assistant for minimum wage was no way to pay back my student loan :-) Communicating online started out as a hobby years before the Internet, and over the years I've branched out into enterprise application architecture, as a corporate IT employee and as a consultant. In 2004 I hung out my own shingle and am now the president of Raare Integration Solutions, a private consulting firm specializing in enterprise portals, content management and business process analysis. It's very challenging, never mundane and not too shabby for a kid from South Philly :)
