Esther's Story
I was born in DC. Lived in SE near Congressional Cemetary and Barny Circle. Attended Buchanan Elem., Hine jr. High and Burdick Voc. I had two sisters (one older/one younger, and a younger brother. I married in 1958 to a man who grew up about 4 blocks from where I grew up. I went to HS with his sister. He was a Marine in Korea at that time. We eye balled each other when we would meet and then one night his sister and I had been in downtown DC and I had walked her to the bus stop to catch the bus to MD where they were living. n went down to PA Ave to catch the streetcar. I was standing in the middle of the street when this car full of Marines stopped (guess who) and asked if I wanted a ride. They were on the way back to Little Creek,Va. I said yes and got a ride home. He called the next weekend and invited me to the movies. We have five children, three girls/two boys; four grandchildren, three girls and one boy and three greats - three girls. We are both retired, him from the Washington Post and me from the Dept.of Navy. That is my life in a nutshell.
