Irma Leah's Story
Life
I was the class Historian in 10th grade. Then, Class Vice-President in 11th grade. Then, I moved to California during my Senior year in High School. So, I missed the best part of High School at Kennedy. My high school boyfriend was Joe Macias. My close friends were Gloria Villanueva, Rebecca Zuniga, & Rachael Rivas. We had some great times with our Class Presidency Teacher Sponsors; Mr. Collins & Mrs. Villasenor & others. I was on the Journalism staff, The Spanish Club, the Student Council. I also worked in the office during one period, so, I walked the hallway everyday & I would see everyone in their class as I passed by. This was my special way of connecting with everyone in the whole school (in my own unique way). Does anyone remember me walking down the hallway in 1978-79? of those people? My name was "Irma." But, I was nicknamed "Gargoyle"... thanks to Ruben Tey. Because, in 5th grade at Hoelscher Elementary School, this is where Mrs. Martin's class was watching a movie in school about a castle with gargoyles all around. At that time, Ruben Tey was hitting me & pulling my hair & he started calling me "Gargoyle!".
So, this name was my only claim to fame throughout my school years. Does anyone remember me now? If so, please send me a line. Tell me what you remember about me. I look forward to hearing from you.
