Evelyn's Story
I love the history of this county and belong to the Wahkiakum Historical Society. Also do a lot of volunteer work at the museum. Love all the pix that are there. The museum is closed now for improvements and cleaning.
Can you believe my class of 1959 is celebrating our 50th? We have lost 8 of our class. Not all were graduates though. Our class had 41 that graduated.
Love those reunions. It's fun to see people after so many years.
Got a hole in one, I'm sure by accident....Expand for more
Also won first place in a tournament.
My first job was at The Elco Theatre, where I got paid 50 cents an hour to usher. What I remember most about it is trying to find seats for people in the dark. Was real hard when the place was full..
In 1948 when Puget Island flooded. My parents home was across from the Island on a 3 hundred foot cliff over the Columbia River. We watched as people were trying to get their cattle and belongings off the Island. It was scary for a 7 years old.
