Everett's Story

Life My Spouse Barbara K. Orman is a Winter '60 graduate of San Fernando High School. We met in 1961 when I was called to serve as Minister of Youth at First Baptist, San Fernando. She was President of the College Group in the church. We celebrated our 52nd Anniversary on June 13, 2016. My Pets We have had doxies for most of our married life. When our last doxy died we decided to get a cat, Figaro, named by one of our kids for his color and behavior. We lost him in 2015. He was joined by Fiona, another tuxedo cat, who we adopted when we visited the animal shelter. He is quiet...she makes up for it in activity and surprises. Fiona has been "visiting" at the home of our two youngest grandchildren in Tigard. They have taken her in as their own. She comes back from time to time to refresh her impact on our home. My Kids Our oldest daughter will be 54 on December 13, 2016. She came to us at 15 for a two week stay and just stayed. She has given us two grandchildren, a daughter 33 on her mother's birthday and a son 29 , married and living in Missouri. Her daughter graduated from Linfield College, worked for the MOUSE in Orlando and has moved back to Oregon, working in a large insurance company. Her son is a Marine, now having completed his service. now attending school to go into law enforcement. Our next daughter is 48 and lives 125 miles from us. She has given us two grandchildren, a son age 22 and a daughter age 20. Our son is 46. He ha...Expand for more
s given us two grand daughters, 16 and 18 this year. He was Director of Communications and Public Relations for the Metropolitan Portland Homebuilders Association until 2008 when he went full time with one of his other businesses, Command Consulting and Lyon Films. He teaches at George Fox University and Linfield College ad hoc and now is in charge of Integrated Media for Linfield College. My Job I was Director of Development for American Baptist Seminary of the West in Berkeley, California until 2012. I retired as Director of Planned Giving at Linfield College, McMinnville, Oregon, helping people make financial gifts. I "retired" on June 30, 2004. I've been doing charitable gift planning for more than 30 years. Previously, I served Baptist churches in California, Hawaii and Oregon as pastor and served judicatories in California and Oregon as staff. I served the American Baptist Foundation (doing Planned Giving) from 1986 - 1998. Retirement? Yes, I hung up my daily job, and my consultanting practice (Barnabas & Co.). I spent ten months as interim pastor for First Baptist Church, Oregon City, Oregon in 2005 and ran for the Oregon Legislature in 2006. We are active leaders at our own church and spend quality time with our grandchildren. I edit a newsletter for my 200-member amateur radio club, where I am currently president and Membership Chair. We enjoy staying in touch with friends, and reconnecting with friends and classmates from the past.
