Evon's Story
Life
The day after I graduated, I left Martin County and went to Raleigh. Several months later, I returned, found a job and started life after high school. But eventually in 1970, I moved back to Raleigh with my husband and we had a daughter in 1971. In 1976, our 2nd daughter was born. We lived a pretty good life and were happy. After both my kids started school, I went to work with Holiday Inns and was there as a csr for almost 18 years. They decided to close the center and my husband did not want to be transferred to Utah or SC so I took the severance and ran. By this time, we had bought a house in Johnston co where I continue to live. Now have 2 daughters, 2 son in laws and 3 living grandchildren, 2 boys and a girl. Even though my husband has died, I am very satisfied and have a new career only 5 miles away to occupy my time. Have not been to any of the class reunions, hardly ever seen any of the people I shared those 12 years with, but life is good for me, and I hope it is for them. re as I age. Look forward to many more years with my family and many friends. class of 67 Update. I am still in Johnston county, but moved to Selma. Actually I am on the north side, just outside of Clayton. Just before Christmas, I was hit by a dear, on the way to meet my fella for dinner. I almost never saw what hit me, except for out the side of my eye, when his head hit my passenger window, but in those few seconds, he managed to wreck that whole side, and my mirror. I still made it for my date. And I lived to tell about it. I am still here. Happy New Year. Since this update, this date ended on a sad note. He had to have bypass surgery. He survived but went to live in Colorado with his granddaughter. So next was my Cinderella story. Was engaged to my prince charming. But he died in 2013. Then I decided life is short, so I retired in August 2013. I still work but I dont mind. I keep my grandkids. Can you believe my oldest grandson is in college now. He was pitcher of the year and was the centerfold in his senior year book. Other grands are 14 & 10. They earned awards also. Visit me on facebook under Evon Howard. (evon davis)
