Faith Robinson's Story
Life updated in May 2023
Tom and Faith Barnidge are retired and live near San Francisco in the East Bay, married for 53 years. Our daughter, Meredith and three children live nearby, two boys and a girl. Now they're all in college!
Tom (Vianney ‘66) and I have been married since the summer of 1969. We met at Mizzou. After graduation we moved back to St. Louis. We lived in Webster Groves for many years, where I graduated from Webster University, my husband, Tom, was sports columnist for the Post Dispatch, and then editor of The Sporting News until he took the coolest job as executive editor for the publishing division of the NFL in Los Angeles in 1991. I’ve been with him at 22 Super Bowls, World Series, Stanley Cup, you name it!
When the NFL embraced cable tv we moved to the San Francisco Bay area and he became sports editor of the East Bay Times 20 years ago.
With all the travel and moving, I’ve been pretty busy., but made time to volunteer, usually on behalf of children. My favorite volunteer position was as granny nanny for my grandchildren, as our daughter Meredith, (Nerinx), and her family followed us to LA and then the East Bay. She’s a teacher at DeLa Salle high school and head of the Theater Dept. Driving her to play auditions at catholic high schools for four years wasn’t fun for me, yet she loved performing. She was smart enough to get her degree in education, and continued her love of theater as a director. All three grandchildren are now in college pursuing their dreams.
My favorite job was writing a column in the Eas...Expand for more
t Bay Times about non-profit organizations and volunteer advice. I can be googled!
Our families and friends bring us to St. Louis almost every year. We’re getting old, darn it, so the drive gets harder every year. We take our time and visit friends and family along the way, and listen to music from the sixties.
I hosted a forum for Normandy Alumni on Delphi Forums for about 10 years when we lived in LA, I miss the fun of talking about the old days and current events with regulars Dennis Rudroff '68, Tim Zinser '68, Doug Wood '68, Ray Seefeldt '68 and Nick Saganis '66. I was the only girl willing to put up with these guys for such a long time.
I joined the Normandy Alumni Association when it was formed around 2003. The first All-Class Reunion was held that year and it was a blast! The Class of '68 had three tables. Attendees included Joe Moncado, Mary Pierre and John Morak, Charlotte Barnes, Dennis Rudroff, Larry Porschen and many others.
I was the Reunion Representative for our class until the 40th reunion.
The 40th Reunion of the Class of 1968 was a great success in 2008 and really brought us into the computer age when I developed a data base to keep track of all of our classmates, with lots of help from your fellow classmates.
I hope your lives have been as blessed as mine. I have a wonderful husband, daughter and three healthy grandchildren. I may be older, grayer, fatter and shorter, but I'm also wiser and a lot more fun!
Thanks for reading this entire biography. I loved high school, and I remember many of you fondly.
