Farley's Story
Currently living in San Juan Capistrano, CA. My Beautiful Sweetheart, Kathi, went to Heaven in 2016. The only girl I had ever dated, until recently. We were married for 43 all too short years.
What I have been doing with my life:
Joined the Air Force in 1972 and worked for the National Security Agency for 3 years.
I have two wonderful sons, Kevin who is a Porsche Mechanic (and father to my Grandsons Kolton, and Parker), and Adam who is Chief pilot on a G-2 for an international developer (and husband to my wonderful daughter in-law, Kimberley).
A brief work history:
Thirty-four years of ocean engineering design experience including design and fabrication of unique scientific ROVs; AUVs; towed underwater platforms; structures for deep sea experiments; design, fabrication, and testing of diver tools, vehicles, buoys; logistical support of and participation in at-sea operations; Project management experience including project proposal preparation, contract negotiations, and budget. A partial list of relevant projects includes:
Subsea equipment in support of Ocean Acidification experiments
Tiburon ROV
Arctic and mapping AUVs
Design of Arion underwater vehicle;
ROV jetting system for cable burial; ROV manipulator tools; diver lift system; seawater hydraulic underwater construction tools; anchor embedment system; autonomous underwater video camera deployment system.

Lead ocean engineer at the MCA Engineers, Camarillo facility. Project manager for all ocean engineering work in the Government Services Division. Designed and deployed long term anchoring system for U.S. Naval Inactive Ship Maintenance Facility (NISMF) Oahu, Hawaii

Project Engineer for numerous U.S. Navy projects related to design and testing of tools and equipment for divers and underwater vehicles. A partial list of projects includes:
• underwater stud gun;
• water powered tools: impact wrench, grinder, bandsaw;
• diver lift system;
• underwater metal detectors;
ROV jetting system for cable burial.
• Other projects included:
• quick deployable arctic shelter,
evaluation of arctic survival equipment; Test fixture for innovative testing of new hull for Seawolf class submarines;
Program Engineer for ROV and manned submersible recovery of Challenger Space Shuttle wreckage. Responsibilities included: mobilization, developing search patterns, conducting search and recovery operations, and acting as liaison between Eastport, U.S. Navy, and NASA during payload recovery.

R&D Engineer for the design of primary mechanical and stabilizing components for the
Arion deep towed search vehicle. Designed components and systems for the Concrete Island Drilling System (A unique mobile arctic drilling vessel used to withstand nearshore ice floes).
