Nathan's Story
Life
Finished High school and had no idea what I wanted to do...so joined the navy. Bootcamp in Chicago, training in Florida and S. Carloina, then San Diego, and finally out in Hawaii aboard the USS Chicago as a nuclear reactor operator. Gained 15 lbs of muscle and dyed my hair red. Anybody else change some? I am now living in the Austin area again, having recently changed jobs to work for Diamond Offshore as a plain Ol' Electronics Technician. I work on Oil Rigs off the Gulf Coast, and only work half the year. I cannot begin to express how important my family has become to me and that is my main focus in life now. Still never married, but I do have a new Golden Puppy Rosie. Wishing all the best.
Military
Served 6 years in the USN. Joined on Dec 29th, 1994 and completed my contractual agreement on Dec 28th of 2000. I went to Boot Camp in Great Lakes Illonois, 'A' School and Nuclear Power School in Orlando Florida, a...Expand for more
nd finished with Prototype in Charleston South Carolina. I served on the USS Chicago from Feb of 1997 to Nov of 2000, in the Engineering Department, Reactor Controls Division.
Civilian
I have traveled more as a civilian than I ever did in the Military, and have always gravitated towards jobs requiring travel. I have worked in the Semiconductor world installing equipment in Computer Chip Fabrication facilities in the USA, Europe, and Taiwan.
I worked in a small nowhere town as a Production Manger for a site that created raw material for Land Rigs in Texas.
And since 2006, I have been working in the Offshore Exploratory Drilling World...in fact, the movie Deep Water Horizon will involve my actual job.
I have been married since 2007, have 2 amazing daughters, and can't wait to find out what the next 20 years has in store for me.
I underwent an adult adoption before getting married in order to carry on my Step Fathers name.
