Christina's Story
Life
IN A NUTSHELL
So much time has passed and so much has happened in my life it is hard to know where to begin.
I am a musician/teacher, which shouldn't surprise anyone eh? I am now teaching Choir in a middle school in a neighboring county. I spent many years teaching piano privately, teaching at the University of Kentucky where I received my Masters in Piano Performance in 1991. But I'm getting ahead of myself. . .
First. . .
After graduation I attended Adrian College for my Freshman year. Then I went off to North Texas, in Denton Texas, for the remainder of my undergrad. Graduated from there in 1981 with a Bachelor in Music Education. I taught in Allen Texas for 1 year, then I got married and moved to Lexington Kentucky. We had a son, Alex but thankfully were divorced by the time he was 2. I remarried in 1991, we had a second son, Jesse, who is now 11 years old. In August of 2004, my husband had a sudden heart attack and unexpectedly passed away. Then 4 months later my oldest son, Alex was a restrained (seatbelt on) passenger in a car accident. ly, but was in a coma for 2 weeks, then he passed away. This was and still is a very traumatic event in our lives. They are both buried in Paris, Kentucky, where Johnny, my husbands family was from. Since then Jesse and I are adjusting to the changes in our lives and trying to move on. It never goes away, but it does get easier.
I'm sure everyone assumed I would become a musician/teacher, but I'm positive nobody would guess that my other hobby is rock climbing. I've been climbing for 23 years. My second husband, Johnny was an avid rock climber. He was a first ascentionist and even wrote climbing guidebooks for the climbing area near Lexington. Our entire family climbs. Both of my sons began climbing at a very early age. This is still my passion and I love sharing this sport with my son and my friends. Jesse and I go to the Red River gorge in the Daniel Boone National Forest every weekend or free day we can. We have a cabin there and love to spend time in its natural beauty. The climbing community has been an incredible support to myself and my son throughout our losses.
