Art's Story
(Click on STORY) There is a lot to talk about and hard to know where to start. In my case: "...the journey is more important than the destination...." I truly believe that and have lived it. My journey has taken me places, has allowed me to do things, have been involved in so many things that it would be hard to encapsulate all of that in this short space. My career has been and forever will be working as an electronics design/systems engineer in the Aerospace/DoD military industrial complex. I have been part of many design teams in the development of electronics for radar systems, guidance systems, communications shelters, and yes, Space Station. I have moved from Ventura County, Orange Count, Tucson, Phoenix, Back to Ventura County, Rockville Maryland, Torrance, and now in La Mesa in the San Diego area.
Honestly, I did not expect much out of life when I graduated from High School. But as I got my BS in Electronics Engineering from CSU Long Beach, I realized that 'These are my people and here is where I belong'. I eventually got my MS from USC and have throughly enjoyed my career and life. I have never regretted being one of those geeky engineers. It has been and is my destiny.
My daughter bought me a tee shirt for my birthday which had "10 Reasons why Kirk ...Expand for more
is better than Picard". I wear it with pride. Today, May 25 is the 35th anniversary of the original release of Star Wars. I wore my Star Wars Tie to work today. My family understands me!!
As for my destination at the end of my journey, I do not know where that may lay. But I still feel like there is so much to do, so much to experience and time is running out.
I am still married to Gloria Savedra from the Class of 71. We are still together even after 35 years and have two lovely girls. The picture is of me with my granddaughter. She is my buddy.I know that our eventual end is in the memories that our children, and grand-children have of us. I am ever so humbled that my girls and my granddaughter will have the longest lasting memory of myself and Gloria.

There is still so much to say. I am still the humble kid from Victorville who was born and raised across the tracks on "E" Street. I am grateful for every day I live and for all of my life's experiences. Take care,
