Felix's Story

HI I was born in a tin roof shack called Dinuba Alta Hospital. We was so po the only pot I had to piss in was the same one we used to catch the rain water we would bathe with. I had two older Sisters at the time and I had to wear their cloths as hand me downs. To this day I hate sun dresses and sandals. Spanish was my first language and I learned to cus in english from my sisters who were already in school. I remember my first day in kindergarten. I tried to use my english on some of my new classmates and had to resort to cus words as my english was not what I thought it was. I spent a good deal of time on the yellow bench as a time out away from the rest of the kids. My hair was always long mostly because we were Po and couldn¿t afford the 50 cents it cost for a hair cut and people would often confuse me for a little girl and say what cute little girl Which I didn¿t like so I would drop my trousers to show them I was not. That always made their eyes get big. I later learned it was just a ploy to get me to drop my pants. Perverts! I remember one day playing football in sixth grade P E and being tackled by a school mate named Ernie. He whispered in my ear "I want to "f" You!" I got scared and discovered I could run fast, Very FAST!. I stayed away from Ernie after that, Far Away!. By the time I got to first grade I could not only cus ...Expand for more
in english, but had finally gotten the hang the language and was well on my way to telling Yo Mama jokes and could cut anyone down to size. That was the year I discovered I had dyslexia. Back then they just thought you were either retarded or there was something wrong with you. So as not to end up in special Ed classes I decided I had to try harder and harder I did try, To evade anything that would have me read out loud in front of the teacher or the class. Humor became my out and way to distract. I became A class Clown! The Horror! The Horror!. Mrs Soto my second grade teacher would have none of it. She was this huge woman who was the inspiration of my many Yo Mama¿s. She would spit on you while she scolded you. Her face getting redder and redder then finally she would grab the paddle and let you have it. She relished my fumbling of words and letters, That kept spinning in my brain like a merry go round being pushed by fifth Graders, Because then. She could scold and pinch and shake me by my shoulders telling I wasn't trying hard enough. Calling me "Turtle" Her way of saying I was slow. I would wince every time she called me that. It was more embarrassing than the kid who always wet his pants in class.(name being with held until then end of this story). Needless to say Mrs. Soto held me back another year. The shame the shame.
