CLASS OF 1971
Ft. smith, AR

Steve's Story

I played sax in band. I was in High Y. I was pretty quiet I guess. I drove a '60 T-Bird with red leather seats. Woo wooo wooooo! After High School I started college at Westark, then work, work, work, then more college, then more work, and repeat. In '74 I moved to Rudy and built a house there. I went back to school in '79 or so, then back to work as an electrician. I've been in construction ever since. I've worked in Chile, Peru, Iraq, Kuwait and Canada. I've worked in all the west coast states, a couple of east coast states and oodles of states in between. I'm a Master Electrician. I've worked in power generation, power transmission, water and wastewater, mining and metals, telecommunications, heavy industries like steel mills, oil gas and chemical plants. Right now I'm building a solar power plant in the desert west of El Paso. I have four kids from 17 to 31 and six grand ki...Expand for more
ds. I'm proud of all of my kids, but I have to brag on the most notable accomplishment (so far -- other than making grandkids) of any of my kids -- my middle daughter is on the US Olympic team having represented us in Beijing, and she's getting ready for the 2012 games in London now. I have that and a few good friends. I've had a good life. For any of you who knew Jenny Dennis and don't already know -- she succumbed to cancer a few years after the 30 year reunion. She was living in Wadell, Arizona, a tiny community on the western outskirts of Phoenix. She had two kids and two horses and a grandkid or two. She served in the Army and worked for IBM before becoming the IT manager for the City of Peoria, AZ. I am sure she is missed by many -- I know I miss her. If any of you know what happened to Jim Keck, Cliff Dykes, Joe Parker, I'll add names to the list later, then please let me know.
