David's Story
Life
I want to say hi to all my friends at Palmetto: Kee Kragness, Tim Smock, George Alvarez, David Weese, Doug Dewar, Brian Roma ("Sterno Canned Heat..."), Ken Merrill, Joe Stafford, Jeff Reagan and a big debt of gratitude to Gary Phipps who got me into Pop Warner Football. And on the Falcons, I want to say "hi" to Darin Rossi (big time movie star on the Bad News Bears...he was the umpire). And there was a line in which Billy Bob Thornton told his team that "tieing was like kissing your sister". Wasn't that a line that Coach Chitwood used to tell us? I bet Darin had that thrown in. If Darin ever reads this, I would like to know.
I'm living my dream in Kentucky with a great job and going to school studying more Electronics (what else, right?).
I hope you are all doing well.

I suppose it was during the swim meet against Yucaipa in 1980. The water must have been no higher than 65 degrees. Miserable. Like always, we had "warmed up" before the meet.
My first event that day was the 500 freestyle. "Swimmers take your Mark.....Stand Up!" (Someone had false started). By this time, I had forward momentum and tried desperately not to fall in. I flailed my arms wildly, but to no avail. I was heading straight in. As I...Expand for more
was heading past the rubicon, I looked around, and saw the adjacent pool deck. I made the heoric sideways leap and landed on my knees. But I made it! I stayed dry! I made it back to the blocks and finished out my event. In what was an otherwise cold clammy day, it wound up being a fun day. Something to talk about, all these years later.
I want to say hi to everyone, especially the ones who I owe a debt of gratitude: Doug Eliot, David Hargrove, Frank Havemann, Pete Sherburne. The list goes on. God Bless you all.
Military
MCRD San Diego Platoon 1106 Third Phase PFT. We won by a landslide. I have never seen or witnessed anything like it. It was like we won the superbowl, when SSGT Draper put the final number on the board. Anyone there will not forget that moment. Guys who were supposed to be tough were hugging each other. Awesome moment in time. A definite Kodak moment.
I now have a three year old son (born 2008). The absolute best thing that has happened to me. His name is Aaron. This boy likes to play and loves run around outside naked, catching bugs. My job will be to see to it that he gets ample oppurtunities to grow and succeed. I fully honor this position of being a Dad. The toughest job that I will ever love!
