Lorenzo's Story
Life
After graduating high school, I joined the Army (1986-89) and my job was a radio operator. After that, I joined the Army Reserves in Seattle, Washington (1989-93) as a Records Specialist. I went to college (majored in Criminal Justice and Political Science), had odd jobs, and attended Savannah Technical College (2001-02) to study air condition technology. I rejoined the Army in November, 2002 as a Human Resources Info Systems Management Specialist, and I was stationed in Vilseck/Grafenwoehr, Germany from April 2003 to 2008. I'm currently stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC. From February 2004 to February 2005, I was deployed with 1st ID to Iraq for a 12 month combat tour of duty (OIF II) at a foward operating base (FOB) 30 miles northeast of Baghdad called Baquobah. ide car bombing, roadside bombs, small arms fire, mortar and rocket attacks. I'm glad to come back in one piece, but unfortunely, I lost a few friends and acquaintances. I have deployed again to Iraq (OIF V) near Tikrit (Saddam's birthplace) and returned after a five month combat tour because of medical issues (2006-07). I left Germany in 2008 and was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC from June 2008 to April 2010. I'm now stationed at Fort Irwin, CA and serving under the mighty 11th ACR (Blackhorse). Currently, I'm studying for the LSAT exam, finishing my degree in criminal justice, and applying for law school. I've deployed again, but this time to Kuwait from March-September 2009. I've now completed three combat tours and I need a brief from this action. If I deploy again, I want to go to Afghanistan and tangle with the Taliban. I'm getting used to the California lifestyle as well as the earthquakes. I'll always be an East Coaster and fellow Georgian.
