Flora's Story
Life didn't turn out like I expected it to in high school. Although I attended Bel Air High School (MD) for most of my high school years, I graduated from Amphitheater High School in Tucson AZ in 1959.
I got married in 1960 and divorced in 1983. I was a housewife for a number of years and a secretary/office worker for several years. I am now retired.
Our son was born 1963. During the marriage, my husband was career military, so we lived in several different states. After he retired in 1981, the marriage broke up permanently.
My son & his family live in a different state. I have 4 grandchildren & 1 great-grandchild.
This time, I have lived in Tucson, AZ, since July 1981.
I have multiple chronic, progressive medical problems that greatly limit what I can do, such as I can no longer do long distance travel. For transportation, I use the city bus system & the local paratransit for disabled people. My income is rather limited.

riends of the Pima County Public Library, pricing books for their book sales (which raise money for library programs).
I read a lot, mostly nonfiction, but anything that looks interesting. By volunteering at Friends of the Library, I can buy books extremely cheap and have a number of books at home.
I attended community colleges in the mid-1970's and in 1987, majoring in computer work.
My religious/spiritual views and beliefs are almost 180 degrees from the way I was raised & believed in high school; at that time I was very naive & over-protected.
My father died in 1954 in Tucson. My mother spent a lot of the 1960's in Harford County MD taking care of her parents till they died (1967 and 1970). In 1971 she moved back to Tucson and died here in 1993.
My older sister has lived in Tucson since Nov. 1958. She & her husband have been married over 47 years.
