Flora's Story
Life
RETIRED AND LOVING IT. GOT 5 CHILDREN..10 NOW DUE TO MARRIAGE AND 14 GRANDS TOTAl AND 1 GREAT GRANDDAUGHTER. LOVE TO TRAVEL AND ENJOY BEING WITH MY FAMILY AND CHURCH FAMILY.
School
Attended Dunbar North in kindergarten and Dunbar South from first grade through the 6th. My favorite teacher was Mrs. Fowler who I had in the 4th and 5th grades. My biggest crush in the 2nd grade was on James Hawkins and Jodie Welch (who lost his life in the Viet Nam war.)
My funniest school memory was during the ninth grade. Rushing, late to class, girls wearing nylon stockings with garters to hold them up back then, I threw open the classroom door trying to beat the tardy bell. The bell started ringing, I stood there looking at the teacher to see if I was ...Expand for more
on time, when one of my garters popped and my stocking floated down to my ankle. Oh so funny and embarrassing at the same time!
If I could do it all over again, I would have loved to completed grade school through high school graduation with the classmates I had from kindergarten through the 1st semester of sixth grade. My very best friends were Yvonne Parks, Cynthia Fortune, Beverly Crawford and Mary Jo Stewart.
Met many other friends after transferring to Missouri in 6th grade. To name a few: Gloria Camp, Rosalyn Davis; Bobby Wade; Barbara Powell....and others.
I treasure all of my wonderful memories from school.
College
No college. Married out of high school. Raised my children. The greatest institution you can attend is family living.
