Renee''s Story

Life I got off to a rocky start. I got pregnant and dropped out of school at 17. By the time I was 21, I had my second son, but still no husband--by choice. I eventually got fed up with where my life was going; so at the age of 24, I enrolled in community college and studied court stenography. I never completed that course of study, but I did acquire enough secretarial skills to turn my life around and get a damn job. After a few meaningless clerical jobs, I eventually landed a job as secretary to Judge Damon Keith, 6th Circuit Court of Appeals. While working in the courts, I soon met my husband-to-be, Judge Leon Jenkins, who was on trial at the time for bribery, with his entire career in jeopardy. He was eventually acquitted of all charges against him. (To make a long story short, his crime was that he was a Black man in America who didn't stay in his place. (He would sentence offenders to take their GED instead of fining them or throwing them in jail). We got married and moved to California, where we did not live happily ever after. My husband had two pre-teen daughters, and I had my own two sons who were 12 and 16 at the time of our marriage. Now, to make that long story short: We were not the Brady Bunch; it was more like the Fraidy Bunch. My husband's olde...Expand for more
st daughter, who I shall call "Cinderbitch" made my life a living hell and, in the process, gave me a whole new perspective on the Cinderella/Wicked step-mother story. I now feel sorry for the step-mother, and I believe Cinderella was a manipulative little B... if you know what I mean. Needless to say, my husband and I didn't survive the turmoil of that wicked child, so we are going through our second attempt at divorce. I tried to hang in there for awhile because we eventually had our own son, who is now 9 years old, but we never could get back that "loving" feeling... Well, at least I couldn't. All of the other children are grown and living their own lives now. My 31 year-old son is in the airforce, Special Forces, my 26 year-old son is a starving, wanna be actor/entertainer, and my 9 year-old son is an anti-social third grader. I currently work at home doing Medical Transcription. It's great work with flexible hours and great pay. I live in a wonderful apartment community in Marina Del Rey, CA; and I am enjoying life on my own, happy to be sleeping alone. I'm happy to say, "There's no more drama in my life." In my spare time, I like to relax by the pool with a friend or two while sipping on Margarita's, talking about whatever is going on in our lives. THE END.
