Fotena's Story
What a life of great blessings I have had! Of course attending Hoover High was a great start in life. I remain in touch with many of my friends from Hoover and from Akron U where I did my BA and MA. Today I live in beautiful Tallahassee Florida and have the honor of working at Florida State University -- Go Noles!
It has been a wonderful life journey marked by two great husbands and 3 step kids, though I am single now.
I have worked in human services for much of my career -- both public and private agencies and have helped with national issues such as accreditation. Quality Improvement has been a love of mine as has been leadership development.
Currently I am engaged in research and activities supporting reading research. Understanding how children develop reading skills as well as writing skills has been fascinating and I have an incredibly bright and talented pool of coll...Expand for more
eagues here. I have the opportunity to learn and apply advanced statistical techniques and that is keeping my mind sharp! I also am blessed to mentor some younger researchers.
I am also engaging in ministry activities and my Christian journey has been one of the very best things about my life.
As I did in high school, I continue to work for social justice and equality for all. I still love animals, music, reading and laughter. I turned out to be a pretty good cook and an excellent baker. I love Florida and I am a runner as well (have to burn off those calories!) And as you can see in my picture I am a BIG fan of Dunkin Donuts coffee!
Anyway -- as I get older I am reminded that it is the people who crossed my path that shaped my journey. I pray that all my classmates at each school are blessed with good health, happiness and love. Hope to see you all one of these days!
