Fran's Story
My Name is , Cora Lorene France Irwin. Fran is a nick name that I picked up while in the Navy and have been using it all the years sense. Joined the Navy right out of high school. Navy sent me to Hospital Corp school in Great Lakes Naval Hospital. Spent two years enjoying the snow and ice of GL. Next was sent to San Diego Naval Hospital, which I enjoyed very much. I was close to Bakersfield where my family still lived.
Married a Chief Hospilman Donald G Metcalf. Don & I parted after four years. I worked at Vista Hill Psy. Hospital .
Married Donald A Irwin. Went to work for Naval Health Research Center...Expand for more
sleep lab for the next 18 years. Don & I took up scuba diving and had a great time. He retired in 1995 and we moved to Hawaii. We have been married for 47 years and still enjoy being with each other.
I always wanted to be a Nurse when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a Great idea. As it turns out, they were right. I was a very shy person growing up and had few friends in high school, am not sure why I even logged into this web site.? My sister lives in San diego and I have not been back to Bakersfield sense 2004 when Dad past away.
We love dogs and have alway had 2 or more at one time
