Fran's Story

I'm living in Lahti, Finland, but will get home this summer for a nice, long visit. It will be great to visit with family and friends after such a long absence. I often tell people who ask that I was born under a wandering star. In 1972 I left Shepherdstown and started following that wandering star. Serial interests and a yearning to explore beyond the horizon led me into countless adventures in the US and overseas, in the company of all sorts of people. We were all trying to make a positive impact (sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't). own a long strand of "stand-up, fall-down" 's (A Marine Corps navigator I knew a long time ago called them "peaks and valleys".) Thankfully, I've left all the peaks and valleys behind. I'm now standing on the level middle ground: no sudden shocks or paradigm shifts. Metaphorically, I'm leaning on a fence rail, watching a gang of baby lambs and kids leap gleefully in the warm sunshine. YEP! That's what it is these days! Ha! No longer do various responsibilities hold me down, so in late May I'll strike out for my next adventure: a return to the 'States for three months! Yay! A cross-country road trip! Yay! Yay! Can't wait! See you all in June!
