Francene's Story
September 18, 2015
Hello everyone. Hope you are having a great summer. It's been a typical monsoon summer in the Valley. Kind of comforting in a way.
Last December, I was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. I'm about to start a new clinical trial if an MRI turns out ok. I slipped on the floor a week ago and cracked a shoulder and messed up a knee so I've got to find out if I'll need surgery. I wouldn't be about to start the new trial right away if I needed surgery. So, I'm keeping fingers crossed. Than goodness my husband is taking very good care of me.
Life is interesting.
Take care,
Francene

Hi! I can't believe it's been 45 years since the class of 1969 graduated from PV. So, this October, we're having a very casual 45th reunion that will be combined with the PVHS60's Social on October 25th. Unlike the 40th, there will not be any ticket to purchase. If you want to eat dinner you'll just pay the waiters for your food and drink. The Reunion/Social will be at Manuel's Restaurant in Scottsdale. I've posted the Reunion on Classmates and Facebook. The Facebook group page is PVHS60's Alumni, Phoenix, Arizona. The social begins at 6:00, but I would encourage those attending the reunion to arrive at 5:00 before it gets too busy.
Hope to see you there.

Hi there,
Just a note to let you know that for those of us who graduated in the 60's, we have a social twice a year. The next one is this October 26 at Manuel's Restaurant in Scottsdale. If you would like more information, please send me a note. I'm also on Facebook as Francene Barrett Beeny.
I've been playing the alto sax in a community band for a few years now. Linda Motley Nixon (also class of '69) who was in band with me at PV is also in the band. The band is The Arizona Winds and the website is azwinds.com

Hi everyone,
I thought I'd get an early start on planning our 45th reunion in 2014 and am trying to contact those classmates that we weren't able to locate for our 40th reunion. Since so many of you can't read the e-mails I send if you don't have an All Access Pass on Classmates, I hope you'll see this. You can find me on Facebook and send me a message there.

ber 22 at Manuel's Restaurant at 8809 East Mountain View in Scottsdale. The details are on the pvhs60s dot com website.
I joined a community band called The Arizona Winds. After trying the oboe for a while, I've gone back to the sax and am having a great time in the band. Our first concert is this Sunday, Oct 16 at the the Sun Bowl in Sun City at 6:00 pm.

The 40th reunion for the classes of 1968 and 1969 was held Nov. 7, 2009 at the Scottsdale Hilton. If you missed it, you missed a great party. Alumni who aren't Gold members on Classmates are unable to open their messages so even though we tried to notify everyone through Classmates as well as by using a reunion planning company, we were unable to locate far too many people. So, I hope that you'll go to the website, pvhs60s dot com to submit your address for future events and to let your friends know about that site, especially if they're not Gold members. We also have a Facebook group page called pvhs60s alumni Phoenix, Arizona where future events will be published as well as photos from previous events. I've already posted the photos I took on the Facebook group page.

Hi everyone! Here's a brief summary of my life since PVHS. I got married in 1970 and moved to Reno, NV where my husband was in graduate school getting his masters in Chemistry. After grad school, we moved to St. Louis, MO where he worked at Monsanto for 17 years. During that time I worked several jobs and finally went to college. I received my BFA in Graphic Design from Washington University in 1983. I worked as a designer for about 6 years. We moved to Memphis after Monsanto downsized and my husband worked for Schering Plough for 5 years. I temped for a while and ended up at International Paper. We moved to Pennsylvania (Phoenixville!)near Philadelphia after my husband left SP and we both went to work for Astra Merck. Several mergers later, we both went to Merck and worked until 9/11 happened and we decided that we'd lived away from Phoenix far too long (31 years). So, here we are. I'm learning how to play the oboe and am making progress. My husband Mark and I are both retired now but seem to be busier than when we worked full time.
It's great to be back home and to be near my family and "old" friends.
