Fran's Story

At Central I hung out in the band room most of the time, I helped Mr. Fare as the Librarian with the music and I played the flute in the band sometimes as an oboe player since we did not have an oboe player at the time. In marching band I played a piccolo. I attended Howell Road School for grade school since I lived 2 doors away. After high school I attend Nassau Community College, where I was Freshman Class Vice President and Sophomore Class President majoring in Speech Therapy and audiology. My dad was very sick at the time so I stayed near home and attended Hofstra for 1 year after leaving Nassau. My dad died when I was attending Hofstra and I needed to take a break from school. I worked for Raytheon in NYC as a dispatcher for their computer technicians and American Airlines, one of my accounts decided they wanted me in Tulsa, OK working with their Data Center. I moved to Tulsa in 1977, and in 1984, moved to North Central Ohio. My last employment was a National Sales Manager for a manufacturer of Waterplay Equipment, in fact I worked with the Architect that designed the water play area at the Valley Stream Pool and sold the play equipment to the Recreation Department. The Tumbling Buckets, the Umbrella that has water dripping over it and more.... My husband and I are raising two beautiful and bright grand daughters for the last 9 years Madison age 11 and Jaden 9 1/2. In 2004, I fell on the ice at work and tore the rotator cuff in my right shoulder and developed RSD (chronic pain syndrome) in my right upper arm. Unfortunately, I am on permanent disability now due to this injury, but rai...Expand for more
sing the girls has really helped me move forward. We moved in February, 2014 to a a home on a little over an acre of land that my contractor husband is flipping. Currently we are in the process of extending out our tiny bedroom and making a master bedroom suite for my escape from the kids and and then finishing the basement. He is just completing a wrap around porch and installing a metal roof on the house. Then he will do stone work on the front of the house and probably siding on the rest. What he did with the main floor just amazed me, I just love my new kitchen and open floor plan. I'm 20 minutes from the Football Hall of Fame and 1 hour from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, so if you are visiting or want to visit Ohio, let me know!f I am also on FB so look me up, Fran Isacson Baisden with my 1971 class picture. We visit Valley Stream at least 2-3 times every year, for Thanksgiving. My mom still lives at my childhood home on Howell Road. Every trip I am so amazed at the changes in Valley Stream. It would be so nice to see some friends from the past when I am there. My oldest brother Alan (graduated in 1966) lives in NYC and my brother Bruce (graduated in 1967) lives outside LA in CA. Bruce has produced a movie "South Dakota the Movie" you can see the trailer and read what's going on on his website using the name of the movie. He won a bunch of awards for it at a film festival held in LA. Two of his children Scottie and Moses have formed a group called "Seablood", they are being featured this month by Feline Clothing from CA, catch them on FB - Seablood. They also have a website.
