Frank's Story
I have been married since 1973. My schools include Goddard High School, Crescenta Valley High, Texas Tech University, and Dallas Theological Seminary. I am retired after a career in risk management and safety engineering, specializing in construction and oil & gas. Other vocations have included four years on the staff of a campus ministry organization and three years as the director of a half-way house for juvenile delinquents while in seminary. I have three adult children and five grandkids.
My interests are varied. I enjoy travel: In the last seven years I've been on a two week Mediterranean cruise and traveled to Costa Rica, Cuba (mission trip), Grand Canyon NP, Painted Desert/Petrified Forest NP, Rocky Mountain NP, Arches NP, Oahu, Kauai, Maui, the Big Island, Badlands NP, Mt Rushmore, Washington DC, Windlands Cave NP, New York City, Newport Beach, Santa Fe, Williamsburg, and Niagara Falls, plus too many stop overs to list. We travel to Charlotte, NC three times a year to visit our daughter and her family and travel to Kansas every December to go deer hunti...Expand for more
ng with my younger son, who also makes the trip.
Before we moved to Austin from Dallas in 2015, I taught an adult Sunday School class for 20 years, plus taught occasionally on Wednesday nights and filled the pulpit once a year or so.
I enjoy sports, especially following my beloved Texas Tech Red Raiders, whose football fortunes have fallen somewhat during the past seven years. Our younger son went to Tech and we enjoy going to games together.
My reading interests include theology, history, economics, and current events.
I love living in Austin. There are only three food groups in Texas and Austin excels in all three: BBQ, Tex-Mex, and chicken fried steak. Our two adult sons live there and seem to actually enjoy spending time with their dad. I've been playing some golf at a downtown par three course or hitting balls with them at Top Golf lately. We watch our older son's kids usually twice a week. We also visit a shooting range together a few times a year.
We've audited a couple of film classes at a nearby college; that was both entertaining and interesting.
