Frank's Story
Life
I am currently working full time as a federal employee (diagnostic medical ultrasound technologist) for over 35 years at Ft. Eustis and a radiologic technologist part-time in Williamsburg, Va. Served as an army medic x 7 yrs during the Vietnam and Cold War years. Graduated from Christopher Newport Univ. For fun I played guitar, wrote music, and sang in a folk-rock band with pre-med students many years ago. I also had illustrations and photography published in many books by some famous people, incl., George Beahm, author of Stephen King's biography, Jim Kincaid, former ABC news correspondent, Kelly Freas, former Mad Magazine and National Lampoon artist, L.B. Taylor, author of numerous books most notably, Ghosts of Virginia, and Craig Newburger, professor and former editor of the Journal of Organization Communication. I can't wait to retire in a couple of years so that I may write and illustrate more books and travel around, especially out west. I really enjoy doing politcal cartoons. ountries including Europe, Japan, and Panama and have found Panama to be the most interesting. My biggest adventure was hiking from the Atlantic to the Pacific coast as a Boy Scout across the Panamanian isthmus during the 60's. I volunteered as a scout leader for my son, Matthew's pack for 5 years and had a great experience. It is so fulfilling to help guide our youth in the right direction through scouting. Classmates.com is a wonderful tool to help one connect with lost friends from the past. So far, I have reconnected with numerous childhood friends that I haven't seen in over 40 years. I can't wait to hear from more.
Military
Joined the army as a medic in 72. volunteered for Viet Nam but was sent to the rear in Smiley Barracks, Germany. I also served in Ft. Jackson, Ft. Sam Houston, and Ft. Eustis. Intent on a military career like my father, I only served 7 years but was disillusioned by the direction the military was heading with issues such as poor discipline, drug use, low pay, and down-sizing. Too bad I did not hang around long enough for Reagan to revive the military.
