Kristi's Story
Life
After Eldorado, I went to UNM for several years. Worked at in radiation oncology as an undergrad and decided I didn't really want to go to med school after all. (changed majors) Then I worked as a coop/intern at IBM and Digital Equipment Corporation. I graduated in 1990 with BS in Chemical Engineering.
Started work with Intel Corporation in 1990. Met my husband Frank 3 weeks after I got back from an R+D stint in Portland, Oregon and we have been together ever since. (17 years, married for 15 of those.)
I've worked in Engineering and Engineering Mgmt. for 10 years, and then followed a great mgmt team into Information Technology. I've been doing IT sales and marketing and consulting for about 8 years now. Intel's been great - I've gotten to see the world, make a material difference, and continue to learn and grow.
My oldest son, Brett, was born in 1999, and my youngest, Grant, in 2004. Brett is smart, funny, and very cerebral - he loves Legos and chess, and tolerates soccer. Grant is kinetic, charming, and a bit of...Expand for more
an instigator. We love the boys to death.
As a family we are now facing the age old question of how to balance a professional life with children. I continue to have the goal of working 32 hours / week - some weeks I make it, others I don't. Thankfully, I have a great support system here - my parents still live here, so do Frank's, as well as all of our siblings. But dang, I am tired a lot.
Outside of work before kids, I picked up snowboarding, travel and photography. My best friend Susan married an Italian, and one of the best nights of my life was the wedding in Milan.
With the recent headcount reductions at Intel, we are likely setting up a consulting service (the Kidwell Group) within the coming year - leveraging some of the great opportunities to work on hard problems in a corporate environment and apply that knowledge in the greater Southwest business environment.
