Frank's Story

Ok, really believe I've done this once b4. So, after THS went to Cochise College, majored in Law Enforcement. Tried out for baseball, but quit, rather play with friends, so I played ball with the Puerto Ricanos. Majority of the guys were from DMAFB. A lot more fun and interesting, received an education in a lot of ways...lol. My best friend, Victor Dominguez, whom I can say is my best friend and brother to this day, took me under his wing and taught me about life. While in school, my job was to study, work and play ball. Being the oldest of 7, had to work. Back then, obviously did not care for it, but now looking back, there was a reason. Anyway, Vic was drafted, I had graduated from CC and planned to transfer to the UofA. Decided to try the buddy system, instead my buddy went to Ft Lewis, WA. I went to Ft Ord, .CA. I would not have been drafted, had a high number, so maybe it was meant to be. After basic training, sent to Ft Devens, MA. Coming from AZ, I've never seen so much snow in my life! Discovered boiler rooms...lol Learned Morse Code, became a High Speed Morse Code Intercept Operator, drove me nuts. Sent to VN, but did not stay there long because my 1 yr younger brother, George, who quit school to join the USMC, arrived in country. I was shipped to a place near Laos. George subsequently was exposed to Agent Orange and died of cancer 3 yrs ago. I ask myself if he had not shown up, he would not have been exposed. I was inside a building, no windows, A.C., inside ...Expand for more
a perimeter. Why? Ours is not to reason why... Regardless, I liked the military, except for listening to dots and dashes. Then, I saw 2 guys in civies and inquired their status. They were Special Agents with Military Intelligence, yes I know, a contradiction...lol. Went to Bangkok, took my tests and subsequently went to Ft Huachuca, AZ. Became a Counterintelligence Agent with Military Intelligence. Being bilingual, sent to Panama, while Gen Torrijos was in power and the infamous Gen Noriega was their G2. We know what happened to him. I was burned in Panama, and sent to Germany. While in Germany, got married, not to a national. Did a lot of traveling. Left Germany, ended my active duty career at Ft Bragg, NC. Returned home, became a police officer for the City of Tucson. After my probation, entered the Army Reserves, our sister unit was in HI. Tough duty...lol. Retired from the army with 23 yrs . Retired from the police with 29 yrs. Got divorced, have a son, a police officer, and have 2 beautiful granddaughters. Now days, I volunteer as a camp host, where ever, get out of the Tucson heat. Take my 2015 Victory Cross Country Tour Motorcycle and ride. Belong to the Patriot Guard Riders and American Legion Post 68. I'm also a loyal CUBS fan...lol I'm close to my immediate family and thank God my mom is still with us. Anyone that chooses to read this, wish you well, be safe, reason why God made tomorrow's and you never want to say "I wish I had", if you do, it's to late. ✌
