Frank's Story

Life I spent about three and one half years in the Navy and was stationed in Alameda California. I was an aviation electrician in VAQ-208. Following that I worked for Michigan Bell for 14 years in Marketing. During this time I got my bachelors degree from Oakland University. I took a golden parachute out of MBT and did some things I thought I always wanted to do. First I went to work selling high end audio equipment. Working for Alma's in West Bloomfield. It was then I found out that Audio was a very seasonal job and I left there after about a year and a half. I figured that since that was my hobby it would be a great job it wasn't. Then I thought I wanted to sell cars and I did that for a bit at Bob Sellers Pontiac. A good friend of mine was the sales manger and I talked him into letting me give sales a try. It told me I was too nice to sell cars, but he let me have a go at it. With no customer base the sales are few and far between. I thanked my friend and I went back to School picking up where I had left off in 1971 in the Respiratory Therapy program. After graduation I went to work for Children s Hospital. Spent about 17 years there and enjoyed it very much. I retired from Children s Hospital of Michigan. ER Trauma Midnight's in December 2010. I had been working part time since October 2008. Now I'll get to work on all those home projects that never seem to get done. From what I hear they still won't get finished, but it will be fun trying. Married with two daughters.. Still living in Fraser. Hobbies: I collect classic tube hifi equipment from the 60's. Mostly McIntosh. Also restore speakers (vintage JBL) to their original wood veneer finish from the same period. We're members of the Disney Vacation Club and our home base is Boardwalk at Walt Disney World Orlando. Still drumming and jamming with my guitar playing friends plus my daughters. Also active with Corvette Forum, Audio Aficionado, and Lansing Heritage Forum on the internet! My oldest daughter, Autumn is married and our younger one, Samantha is in college. As an update I'm now a grandpa times two. My oldest Daughter, Autumn, gave birth on September 21st 07 and again on May 20th 2009. Sadly my mother pass...Expand for more
ed away just 8 days latter. She was 89 and had a great life! So I now have grandsons. I must admit I really wanted at least one grand daughter. I just love buying all those pretty little holiday dresses. . They were right about not getting anything done after retirement. Well, almost! This summer (2011) I was able to install the new carpet in my Corvette. Been trying to do that for 3 years now. I also finished adding the railing for my patio deck. Last fall (2010) I did paint the window sashes!. August 2011, now I'm working on the lobby area for my home theater. I need to first add a closet to put all of my younger daughter's guitar cases in. Dec. 2011 Closet is done! I'm covering the walls with carpet tiles in red, black, and gray. The floor will be carpeted in gray. Then I'd like to build the ticket booth. I've been building my ticket taker with parts I find as I shop sort of like the Frankenstein monster. I just need the place to put her now. I'll add more when it happens! Jump ahead to January 2012. On Monday January 16th I found out that my high school sweetheart Deborah (Cobleigh) Sandretti (her mother's maiden name) had passed away on the 4th of the month. She was living in Odessa Texas She was 59 and the mother of two daughters and she was also a grandmother of one. Our romance began on March 8th 1969. After talking a couple of times at school Debbie asked me to a party at her home on Saturday night the 8th of March. I had asked her if I should bring a date and was told no, not needed. I guess she knew something I didn't yet. We got on great at the party and the next Saturday night I asked her out to the movies and dinner. We saw 2001 at the now gone Gateway on Van Dyke now gone. We had dinner at Roy Rogers Roast Beef on Gratiot, now gone. Seems most everything is now gone, even her. Over the years we had talked off and on and I had always hoped that I would get a chance to see her just once more before the end. I just never knew the end would come this soon. It was so unexpected! I will always remember the fun we had during our two years together (Mar 69 to Early 71) and will never forget her. This has left a large hole in my heart! God Bless you Deb.
