College Five different colleges over seven years and I wound up in a career I could have started (at that time) with a high school diploma. I am grateful for my education and the friendships I made along the way and it taught me how to work within a much larger system to affect change. Workplace During high school and college, I did everything in the restaurant and bar business from busing tables to cooking to bar tending to managing. I worked in a carpet mill, harvester manufacturing and finally; since 1977, the insurance business. After 27 years with a major direct-writer, we parted ways and I now represent Blue Cross of California from my Washington office.
