Frank's Story
Life
Finished my Engineering degree at UB, and then worked as a graphic designer and technical illustrator in Buffalo. Then I got a job in the semiconductor industry with British Oxygen (also in Buffalo). I nearly finished my English degree too when my company moved me out to Silicon Valley.
Now I work as a technical writer at Liberate Technologies, an interactive TV software company. I recently rode my bike in the Boston to NY AIDS fundraising ride. Living with my partner Rick (not that Rick, he lives in Denver and is married to a wonderful woman) in an overpriced apartment in the middle of the Cisco office campus. Oh no! I forgot to have kids!!!!
UPDATE FEB 2003
Well, I've somehow managed to survive the dot-com collapse. Life has been a bit rough here in the Bay Area, but thankfully I'm still employed. I'm now a manager at Liberate, with 4 employees in California and Canada. I've travelled extensively the last few years for work and fun, to places like Australia, England, the Netherlands, France, and Spain. I spend most of my free time cycling, skiing, or snowboarding. Rick and I will be celebrating o...Expand for more
ur 5th anniversary in a few weeks.
UPDATE MAY 2005
Amusingly, I did NOT surivive the dot-com collapse. Liberate Technologies became the Enron of the software world, and is still under SEC investigation. After I lost my job I went back to Australia for a while to have some fun. I worked for myself for a while, and then for video game maker Global VR. Now I'm the publications manager for a small software startup called Bytemobile.
UPDATE AUGUST 2007
My brother Ron passed away on July 6, 2007 following complications from routine surgery. He is survived by his wife Jennifer and a wonderful 15 year-old daughter, Amber. There is a website memorial for him. Contact me if you are interested.
Otherwise, no real changes. I'm still working for Bytemobile, and Rick and I recently celebrated our 9th anniversary. I traveled to the Netherlands in May with my parents, who are both doing well. My sister Ellen (married name "Herman") is visiting me in September for my 40th birthday. I forgot to post this, but Ellen appeared on the ABC show "Wife Swap" back in 2005. Just Google "wife swap herman" if you're interested.
